Humpback Whales off Maui 11/30/11 Video

Whales are majestic creatures, famed for their high intelligence and attractive singing. For centuries, humans have exploited whales for oil and meat. Due to this hunting, whales are close to extinction and the international community has banned whale fishing. However, Japan defies the ban on whale angling.

One country in specific that has been engaging in this inhumane and immoral activity against nature is Japan. Big whale angling vessels have actually been dispatched around the marines of Japan, mainly in the western Pacific Ocean, to hunt down innocent whales and gather their meat and additional parts to be used for oil, fertilizer, perfume, shampoo, cleaning agent, gelatin, margarine and additional items. Regardless of the usages it can bring, these living creatures really should not have to pay their lives simply for this senseless reason.

Whales add to the ecological range of the oceans. Whales ingest krill, fish, and little mammals. Whales come in numerous shapes and sizes and are found all over the globe. Despite their selection, most varieties of whales are at danger due to hunting, habitat changes, and population reduction. If whales were to go extinct, there would be a significant negative influence on the natural world.

Marine Shepherd has boats and crews and go out to intervene during whale hunts. This is a harmful and life-threatening undertaking for Marine Shepherd’s crews, but they continue to go to save the whales from slaughter. As recently as 2010, 3 Sea Shepherd ships intervened
against unlawful whaling projects and one boat was purposely rammed and sunk by the Oriental. When the captain attempted to serve an invoice upon the Eastern for his sunken motorboat, he was taken to a Eastern prison. The Ocean Shepherd’s continuing to be crews were not prevented and followed the Oriental fleets for 3 weeks, and not one solitary whale was killed during that time.

Whales ought to have to live and be enabled to repopulate. The intercontinental community has recognized this, and Sea Shepherd is fighting to uphold the will of the United Nations. If you choose to know more about the fight to save whales and just how you can help, pay a visit to Sea Shepherd Conservation Society for more details. Opportunities exist to become a company member and fight directly, donate, or offer support on-shore. Whatever you choose, you will definitely be helping to safeguard the variety of life on Earth and to safeguard a noble, deserving creature.

    I don’t remember.

  • oh yea. we’re famous for that kind of stuff.

  • Oh, yeah, it was absolutly terrible! I was constipated for weeks after that.

  • That’s the only thing that ever happens in our town. We now embrace it, holding the Low Flying Migrating Midget Humpback Whale Plague Festival every February 29th on leap years. Then they destroy the town and we all die. Then, in their pity, the bring us back to life and then we rebuild the town

Humpbacks are found in all oceans. http://acsonline.org/factpack/humpback.htm They migrate, so they’re not everywhere all the time.

Why can’t humpback whales survive in fresh water? My dad said that it was because God made it that way; true; I guess, but there has to be some scientific reason to it.

  • Jerry says:

yes there is. Why don’t pigs fly? Because they don’t have wings.

  • cero143_326 says:

A humpback whale can survive just fine in freshwater. It will not take in water and explode. The main reason the whale dies in freshwater systems is that there is no food for it there, the freshwater is much more shallow and the whale becomes sunburned and there are typically boats, people and land surrounding it which stresses the whale. Also, the pH of the freshwater is different which can irritate the whales skin, leading to parasites taking hold and stressing the whale. The whale is also probably is poor shape when it enters freshwater, which could be why it dies in the first place.

How many humpback whales could Oprah buy? I saw a skit on one of Dane Cook’s comedy shows about Oprah, and he mentioned her giving away whales. I know this was just a joke, but I wonder if she could actually afford to buy a whale, and if so, how many?

  • Daniel says:

she can buy 900 cause they cost 3 million each and oprah has $2.7 billion. lmao i just had to find out too(x

  • daisy3 says:

Definitely not ok with it. Not only are they going after the humpback whales but also 50 fin whales and 935 minke whales for the sake of scientific research. I dont think all these animals should have to sacrifice their lives when they could just conduct research through satellite tagging..this device produces data on their population structure, habitat and movements and most importantly it does not harm the animals. = (

  • George M says:

Are you okay with the fact thousands of animals are tortured to death in laboratories every day just so you and I can use new brands of cologne, mouthwash, and laundry detergent? They test maximum toxicity levels for every chemical in every product on supermarket shelves, until destruction(the animals mucous membrane destruction that is). Oh but the whales..those glorious religious creatures nailed to the cross for our sins for all eternity. How will I be able to have emotional experiences over issues if we take away 50 whales????

  • Haley says:

No way! This is wrong. They are beautiful and intelligent creatures.

  • No due to the fact that they are still protected along with mink. That made me mad the dolphins on the other hand I’m ok with, but I think they should be given a limit and watched carefully and dolphins with calves should be off limits and I think that they should find a more humane way to to hunt them than to pen them up. In some parts of Japan that is their source of income and food, but going after humpback and mink should not be allowed.
